Accessing the New York Times

NYTimes Account is free for CSU students, faculty, and staff. The account is good for one year and may be renewed. Off campus users will need their CSU Library username and password when creating or renewing the account.

  • NYTimes Account access:
    • Unlimited full text for 1851-1922 and 1981-present
    • Five free articles per day per account for 1923-1980
  • Visitor Access:
    • Ten free articles a month for 1851-1922 and 1981-present
    • Headlines and summaries only for 1923-1980

Login to the New York Times online with your CSU NYTimes Account
Use the email and password you chose when you set up your CSU NYTimes Account to login

Locating Articles

To locate a specific article in NYTimes.com:

  • Login then click Search in the upper left and search for keywords or article title
  • Use the facets on the left of the results list to limit to a specific date or date range
  • The Print Headline can be different than the online headline and will be in small print in the search results list
