A guide for using MLA 8th Edition style

MLA 8th Edition General Guidelines

Papers in MLA 8th Edition style should follow these guidelines:

  • typed
  • double-spaced
  • 1" margins on all sides
  • an easy to read font, such as 12 pt. Times New Roman
  • indent the first line of each paragraph
  • in the upper right-hand corner, one-half inch from the top, flush with the right margin include your last name and the page number (number pages consecutively)
  • list your name, your instructor's name, the course, and the date in the upper left-hand corner of the first page
  • center the title of your paper on the line after the date
