Where to Start Your Research

Identify

Before you begin any research project, it's important to identify exactly what you need to accomplish.

Questions you need to answer may include:

  • When is this project due?
  • Do I need to cite outside sources? If so, how many?
  • What citation style do I use (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.)?
  • How long does my project need to be (1,000 words; 3-5 pages, etc.)?

Once you have identified the key aspects of your project, you can think about choosing a topic.
